Abstract
Aeration of high velocity spillway chute flows by aerators is widely used to avoid cavitational erosion. The present aerator design is restricted to specific aerator geometries, however. A study conducted at the Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology aimed to develop a design procedure for spillway chute aerators. Relationships deduced from physical models are compared with prototype data of different aerator schemes.
