Abstract

Within the framework of the multi-national and EU-funded project 'Aerodynamic and Thermal Load Interactions with Lightweight Advanced Materials for High Speed Flight', short ATLLAS, a single element combustion chamber for gaseous oxygen and kerosene has been developed and characterized. The setup will be used for a variety of experiments dealing with different aspects of cooling techniques such as film and transpiration cooling and will serve as platform for tests with newly developed ceramic matrix composite materials. This paper presents the design and summarizes the results from the run-in tests.
