Abstract
Remote sensing is becoming increasingly important for the inventory and monitoring of forest damages. Precise and sufficiently tested methods for the use of the infrared aerial color photograph are available, but there are still difficulties when it comes to the analysis of presently available satellite data. However, with higher ground sensitivity of future satellites and improved knowledge about the spectral radiation of forest stands, usable methods may be expected also here in the not too far future.
