Abstract

As examples for European damping research activities, significant results from recent hardware projects and studies are presented, which were funded or supported mainly by the European Space Agency (ESA) and carried out by Dornier System. While they are primarily concerned with the application of damping after the final assembly of a spacecraft structure, studies under way and future projects outlined investigate the implementation of damping measures already in an initial stage of the design process.
