Abstract

However the simulation-based reproduction and prediction of damping in the complete system "machine tool" is only possible at selected points with today's state of the scientific and technical knowledge. The research group "Damping effects in machine tools", funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), aims to reduce these shortcomings. To achieve this, the damping influence of every single machine component is identified methodically and converted into a simulation model. Afterwards these component models are integrated into a simulation model for the entire machine to represent damping more precise and certain than until today.
