Abstract

In this paper a crosstalk between two neighboring transmission lines induced by the electromagnetic interference emitted by the signals transmitting along the microstrip lines is investigated. The quantitative characterization of the mutual interaction between two lines was evaluated by the reduction of the eye opening defining the bit error ratio (BER) of the communication link. The induced random interference signal extracted from the data transferring sequence measured by the real time digital oscilloscope qualifies the digital jitter of the communication link and was processed as a cyclostationary stochastic process. The cyclic averaging of the measured digital jitter revealed the instantaneous periodic power corresponding to the variance of the probability mass function obtained from the amplitude histograms constructed for each instant of time over the bit duration. The statistical analysis of the corrupted eye diagram was used for the evaluation of the BER for the communication link under interference crosstalk.
