Abstract

The surface chemistry of ammonia and methanol on alkali exchnged and Brønsted acidic mordenites and erionites is correlated with the kinetic analysis of shape selective methylamine synthesis. The results suggest that over alkali exchanged molecular sieves the reaction proceeds via methanolysis of chemisorbed methanol and over the Brønsted acidic form via methanolysis of chemisorbed ammonia.
