Abstract

An analytical method has been developed for determination of C10-chloroparaffines with 4-6 chlorine atoms in technical products and in fish oil samples. After clean-up with gel permeation chromatography and mini silica gel column a pre-quantification has been achieved by high resolution gas chromatography-electron capture detection (HRGC-ECD). Definite identification and quantification has then been completed with high resolution gas chromatographymass spectrometry using negative chemical ionization (HRGC-MS-ECNI). For the first time, pure C10-chloroalkanes with different degrees of chlorination (2,5,6,9-tetrachlorodecane - 3 diastcreoisomers, 1,2,9,10-tetrachlorodecane 1 diastereoisomer, 1,2,5,6,9-pentachlorodecane 2 diastereoisomers, and 1,2,5,6,9,10-hexachlorodecane 2 diastereoisomers) were used as standards. Average recovery with HRGC-ECNI was higher than 97%. The described method is recommended for routine analysis in official supervisions.
