Abstract

A rudimentary overview of the continuum modeling of dislocation systems is given. Focus is laid upon a brief presentation of the approach taken by the authors, which is based on a scalar dislocation density measure and the notion of single-valued dislocation fields. A basic motivation, the central model equations, and an excerpt of applications of the model are included.
