Abstract

This paper discusses different functions for the security layer of a seeded modular scheme for semantic security. We compare these functions and their stochastic inverses based on the seed length, time consumption, decoding performance at the legitimate receiver and attacking performance if the attacker applies the optimal attack strategy. We show that some functions cannot be used at all rates and we discuss under which conditions each of the functions should be selected. The simulations are implemented in MATLAB, the functions for the security layer are implemented in C and we use AWGN channels for the transmission channels.
