abstract = "We report on bulk melting of ice after ultrafast temperature jump. Our experiments show that homogeneous melting occurs only for an energy deposition beyond the superheating limit of 330 ± 10 K. The process includes two steps: (i) initial formation of water clusters with more than 103 water molecules, and (ii) secondary melting at the already generated phase boundaries.",
