Abstract

When a formula diet rich in carbohydrates and practically devoid of linoleic acid is administered to apparently healthy people, the concentration of the linoleic acid ester of cholesterol falls to about 50% of its original value within 3-4 weeks. A supplement of 6 g of linoleic acid prevents this fall.
