Abstract

The equivalent of the Nambu and Jona-Lasinio chiral breaking scheme has been derived for hadrons with relativistic quarks moving in a confining potential. As a result one obtains a self-consistent relation between the confining potential and the position-dependent coupling strength of the underlying chiral effective quark-quark interaction. The model allows to investigate the connection between the qq-structure and the Goldstone boson nature of the pion. We discuss important consequences for the internal pion wave function.
