Abstract

Aerobic carboxydotrophic Knallgasbacteria exhibit the unique feature to utilize CO, CO2 and H2 or mixtures thereof as sole carbon and energy sources in the presence of O2. While several industrial off-gases are comprised of such gases, this group of organisms is promising to establish novel value chains via gas fermentation for the sustainable production of chemicals and fuels.
