Abstract

Aerobic carboxydotrophic Knallgasbacteria exhibit the unique feature to utilize CO, CO₂ and H₂ or mixtures thereof as sole carbon and energy sources in the presence of O₂. While several industrial off-gases are comprised of such gases, this group of organisms is promising to establish novel value chains via gas fermentation for the sustainable production of chemicals and fuels.
