Abstract
We survey the database requirements for integrated computer aided manufacturing (CAM) databases. We describe the most common representation schemes for modelling solid geometric objects in a computer. Then we analyze some of the recent developments in the area of engineering databases with regard to supporting these representation schemes. Only those systems were considered that are extensions to the relational data model.
