Abstract
Isothermal aging of the alloy at 600 to 850 C was investigated. Continuous decomposition of the supersaturated solid solution leads to the formation of zones and metastable gamma prime precipitation. Increasing temperatures accelerate transformation of coherent to partially coherent gamma prime precipitates and to noncoherent Ni//3Ti phase. Simultaneously with the continuous decomposition a cellular precipitation of the equilibrium phase eta was observed. Mechanical properties and fracture characteristics are correlated with microstructures.
