Abstract

The aim of a heart attack treatment today is to guard against all the complications which used to arise as a result of long-lasting inactivity. This is achieved by a kinesitherapy in the early stages of the illness. The kind and the intensity of the activity must be adapted to the remaining myocard capacity and its changing function. For this we need therapeutic gymnastic programmes which can be administered in doses like medicine. Thus we developed a standardized exercise programme, based on WHO regulations, and tested it on 100 patients who were selected at random. Our results revealed that in 50 % of the patients dangerous complications can be provoked by kinesitherapy. Clinical treatment, however, can be significantly shortened if the risks are well-known, and 3/4 of the patients can continue their treatment in a convalescent home. An early and full rehabilitation can thus be achieved.
