Abstract

The search for “heavy brothers”, the homologues of the ubiquitous CO and NO ligands in organometallic chemistry, presses ahead and not without success. Although the stabilization of SiO by a metal complex is still not possible, O. J. Scherer et al. achieved the breakthrough by synthesizing a complex containing PO, [(Cp′Ni)2W(CO)4(PO)2] (Cp′ = η5‐C5iPr4H). (See also the communication on p. 852). Seen in the context of the other homologues, this development promises to be the forerunner of many such exciting possibilities.
