Abstract
Data and experience from numerous case studies are reviewed and summarized. The author arrives by evaluation at the conclusion that the effects of imperfections in a road construction and major wearing by extreme traffic volume can be quantified in terms of impact on long-term performance by existing theories. Of great importance for the behavior of a road is Yound's modulus of the subsurface, the loosely layed base course, and the bond quality between bituminous layers.
