Abstract
After deoxidation with CaB//6, boron remains in the copper within the range of microalloy contents. By means of adequate thermomechanical manipulation, a tensile strength about 3 times that of pure copper can be attained. It is remarkable that the electric conductivity is negligibly lower than that of pure copper. The increase in the strength is caused by a boron-rich phase which, in cast condition, can be mainly found at the grain boundaries, but also, after thermomechanical manipulation, in very fine precipitations in the matrix.
