Abstract

The decays B → ππ, B → πK and prominent rare K and B decays within the standard model (SM) were discussed. It was found that the B → ππ hierarchy was accommodated in the SM through nonfactorizable hadronic interference effect. The hadronic B → πK parameters were fixed using the B→ ππ data and the SU(3) flavor symmetry. Analysis shows that the BR(B → Xs,dνν̄) and BR(Bs,d → μ+μ-) were enhanced by factors of 2 and 5 respectively.
