Abstract
Standard form contracts are a cornerstone of our modern economy. Yet, they are often used to hide disadvantageous or even illegal clauses from consumers. Neither consumers nor consumer advocates can keep up with the sheer amount of contracts we all face daily. This thesis investigates how AI technologies can be applied to automate the semantic analysis, legal assessment, and summarization of standard form contracts in order to cause of consumer protection.
