Abstract

The trinuclear (chloro)gold(i) complex of the tritertiary phosphine PhP[C₆H₄(PPh₂)-2]₂ was found to have a compact unsymmetrical structure in the crystalline state which is retained in solution owing to the fixation of the gold atoms through intermetallic contacts.
