Abstract

In the present work, the film condensation models of the latest release of the TRACE code (v.5.0rc3) have been validated against experimental data obtained at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and at Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (CEA). The performance of the TRACE film condensation models has been investigated in counter-current configurations over a wide range of pressures, with and without the presence of non-condensable gases. Good agreement is obtained for condensation of pure steam and for low values of non-condensable mass fractions. An over-estimation of the condensation is obtained if the content of non-condensable gases is increased.
