Abstract
G reen and bleached needles or needle segments were analyzed for their ascorbic acid and glutathione contents. All bleached needles or segments exhibited higher amounts of both substances as com pared to green controls. The physiological significance of the increase in ascorbic acid and in glutathione is discussed in content with their roles as antioxidants.
