Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the topic of artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches in the assessment of treatment response and theranostics with a focus on hybrid and molecular oncologic imaging through a critical discussion of current literature. Following a review of machine learning methodology and its current applications, we will point out current deficits and briefly discuss future research directions in the field.
