Abstract

Heterogeneous embedded realtime systems show growing functional complexity as well as increasing demand for short response times and high computing performanceThe objective of this article is to introduce a methodology for the design of embedded systems suitable for medium volume production with the aim of significantly reducing development effort and cost. This methodology is based on the use of predefined, configurable hardware, firmware and software architecture templates. The embedding system is synthesized using these templates, depending on the desired system functionality, the given timing-constraints and other environmental prerequisites like the embedding system. The developing process is performed both, automated and interactive.
