Abstract

Today s automotive systems are huge and complex-with thousands of software-controlled functions implemented by a rich number of reasonably complex subsystems. Therefore, in a distributed agile development of such functions and subsystems, architecture must serve as a backbone. It must be abstract, easily deployable, modular, and supporting information hiding and encapsulation. In this paper, we present our long-term vision of a triad of three different architectural facets: (1) data, (2) services, and (3) technical aspects. We introduce a framework for such an architectural description. By placing architecture at the centre of development, we give it the necessary importance. Based on this, we discuss its role as the backbone of an agile and DevOps-oriented future development methodology.
