Abstract
CAE based approaches for supporting the definition and in part also further detailization of geometrical and mechanical architecture of satellites are discussed. Related methods based on different techniques such as optimization including genetic algorithm are presented. Emphasis is put on demonstration and verification with practical examples such as positioning of equipment on panels including panel design, as well as a full satellite structure. Experience shows that problem statements have to be quite complete, and especially for total satellites proper decomposition into subtasks is required.
