Abstract

New vehicle concepts are constantly emerging, creating new markets and applications. In order to achieve international environmental goals and sustain the increasing demand for robust and high power drive trains, electric machines need to become more efficient in the future. Therefore, it has become increasingly important to consider real driving data, real operating points and application specific requirements in the overall design process of electric machines. In this paper, an application-based design method is presented that aims at implementing real electric powertrain requirements into the design process of electric machines.
