Abstract
As a consequence of the global shift from seller markets to buyer markets, today’s production is characterized by a high product variety and the requirement for short delivery times. In this context, situational shop floor control decisions become more and more relevant. The sequencing rule “Least Slack” is often discussed as an adequate control method to achieve high delivery reliability. However, this method causes long waiting times and many sequence changes. For that reason, this article describes a five-step approach that enhances situational order sequencing by a requirements oriented slack-time distribution.
