Abstract

Re-configurable intelligent surface (RIS) supported wireless multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communication systems, facilitating control of the scattering, reflection, and refraction characteristics of the radio waves can overcome drawbacks of natural electromagnetic (EM) wave propagation in wireless communication. The noise of a communication link with RIS elements is investigated. Also, additive noise of the RIS elements is considered in the point-to-point MIMO setup. Based on this analysis, we can derive the resulting signal-to-noise ratio.
