An improved PSO based cloud solution for cloud manufacturing

Abstract

Cloud Computing is becoming one of the major technology in IT industry which helps to perform do work in a new way using dynamically scalable, virtualized resources which is provided over the internet. Now a day it is also used in mechanical industry as a new technology that transforms the tradition manufacturing business model to effective reconfigurable production lines, allows effective load balancing to dynamic customer demand and reduces the time to market. Task scheduling is a challenging issue in cloud manufacturing because the manufacturing resources are geographically distributed. In order to gain maximum profit and to efficiently utilize the resources in cloud manufacturing this paper proposes an optimization algorithm called Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). In this paper Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based heuristic algorithm is used to schedule applications running on the cloud platform so as to reduce both computation cost and data transmission cost.
