Abstract
The Space Shuttle requires an additional propulsion module, the Space Tug. This module is indispensable for certain missions and represents the third stage of the transportation system. After a brief description of the present Tug concepts, various Shuttle-Tug compatibility requirements are evaluated and applied for the Space Tug Configuration selection. Two alternative Space Tug concepts are described and their performance and costs are compared.
