Abstract

We report a 48-year-old cashier with nickel allergy and hand eczema and discuss the relevance of nickel-induced occupational hand dermatitis in cashiers. A literature review revealed that hand eczema together with nickel contact allergy is not rare in cashiers. The problems of various test results in nickel allergy and its importance in atopic eczema and in occupational dermatoses are considered. Provocative use tests are recommended to assess the relevance of patch test findings.
