Abstract

The ReIV complex 1 undergoes disproportion upon reaction with 2‐butyne to give the allylidene‐ReV complex 2 and the alkyne‐ReIII complex 3. According to an X‐ray structure analysis 2 does not have a metallacyclobu‐tene structure; rather, the C4 ligand is bound in a carbene/olefin fashion. Reaction of 3 with AgSbF6 in the presence of alkynes leads to bis(π‐alkyne) complexes, which are of interest as model compounds for intermediates of oxidative alkyne coupling (Formula Presented.) .
