Alkylierung von Isobutan mit n-Buten - Entwicklungen, Trends und Potenzial

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationArticle

Abstract

The progress made in the field leading to the successful development of alkylation technology based on solid catalysts on a pilot stage was discussed. It was found that insight into the surface chemistry, advances in catalyst preparation and the integration with novel reactor technology are the reasons for the improvements. Alkylation of iso-butene is one of the most important routes to provide high octane components that can substitute aromatic molecules in gasoline. Catalysts surpassing the lifetime of sulfuric acid by three orders of magnitude show potential for economic feasibility based on tailored mild generation that has been made possible by enhancing the key quality of solid catalysts.
