Abstract

In searching for ways to overcome the impending "capacity crunch", the interest in the nonlinear Fourier transform (NFT) for signal generation/detection has been rekindled in recent years. The NFT, mostly studied for single-mode fiber channels, can also be utilized in the context of the strong-coupling multi-mode channel, leading to potential future synergies with space division multiplexing (SDM). In this paper, we present several algorithms for this type of NFT, and assess their accuracy for some well known pulse-shapes.
