Abstract
Causes of injury and mechanism: Acute soft tissue injuries of the elbow predominantly occur after joint dislocation or subluxation. It is essential to know the elbow dislocation pattern as well as the primary and secondary elbow constraints in order to correctly estimate the injury severity and joint stability. Diagnosis and therapy: Adequate management of acute soft tissue elbow injuries also depends on systematic physical examination and careful radiographic evaluation. Nonsurgical and surgical treatment options are presented and discussed with special regard to indication and results.
