Abstract
Air entrainment devices are installed in steep channels of large spillways to prevent cavitation erosion in the spillway surface. Their purpose is to increase the compressibility of the fluid near the surface through the introduction of air at the chute bottom. This is done by means of air entraining devices called air slots. This report presents a review of the state-of-the-art in this field.
