Abstract
A modification of a linear transversal equalizer in a QAM digital radio system is proposed which combines the advantages of nonrecursive and recursive equalization. Superior acquisition performance is obtained without sacrificing ease of implementation, even with noncoherent demodulation. A significantly improved signature is obtained in the case of minimum phase channel distortion.
