Abstract

In this paper, adaptive passivity-based control for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is proposed to regulate its speed. PMSM has many advantages and is being widely used in many industrial applications, but it is difficult to regulate the motor speed due to its highly nonlinearity and parameter uncertainties. Adaptive passivity-based control, which combines passivity-based control and immersion and invariance adaptive scheme, is a good nonlinear controller design method for nonlinear systems with parameter uncertainties. By using the adaptive passivity based control, the speed error of PMSM could converge to zero asymptotically. Simulation results show the performance and effectiveness of the proposed adaptive passivity-based control for PMSM.
