Abstract

In an attempt to minimize the computing time, a number of numerical techniques are compared for the solution of a specific nonlinear dynamic problem, namely the determination of the dynamic response of a net of electrical high tension cables in which a short-circuit induces electromagnetic attraction forces that are dependent on position. It is shown how the selection of the integration scheme and the updating strategy for the nonlinear characteristics interact for obtaining a cost-efficient and accurate solution.
