Abstract
In 1995 the Deutscher Alpenverein produced a topographical map of the Hunza-Karakorum on a scale of 1:100 000. The map is a tourist map and will also serve as a basis for geographical research in this area. The topographical bases for the map were provided by two combined scientific-mountaineering expeditions carried out in 1954 and 1959 respectively. The text which accompanies the map and which is reproduced in this article describes the origins of the map and the cartographic methods used in its production.
