Abstract

Using UHV techniques and a flow system with continuous monitoring of the reaction rate, we have investigated the rate of Ni(CO)4 formation, R, on Ni(100) in an external magnetic field up to 1000 G, under various surface conditions. No magnetic field effect ( ΔR R < 0.01) has been found under any conditions (clean surface with or without roughness ;precoverage with C, S, Hg; temperatures up to 200°C; different B orientation; darkness or illumination).
