Abstract

The spontaneous formation of dicobalt complex 3 with the “mixed” oxidation state Co 21+ was observed in the reaction of the Co⁰ complex 1 with the bis(phosphane) 2. Other dinuclear complexes of this type with an odd number of electrons are only accessible in exceptional cases. (Figure Presented.)
