Abstract

This paper investigates the use of a suitable control strategy for integrating an active power filter and a VAR compensator operating under unbalanced conditions of the power mains. The proposed control structure and its operation principles are presented. The control strategy is implemented by a non standard control scheme composed by a parallel association of a double sequence controller and a resonant controller. With this control scheme the optimal constraints for both harmonic compensation and power factor correction is achieved. The feasibility of the proposed control system is validated by experimental results.
