Abstract

A rapid method for analysis of the polar dyestuff Reactive Red 4 from aqueous solutions by extraction with cyclohexanol and subsequent HPLC separation was developed. This method is applicable for concentrations as low as 1 ppb and can be used for C.I. Reactive Red 4, its hydroxy and methoxy derivatives and two other related coloured derivatives. The methoxy derivative is useful as an internal standard during the extraction of water with high organic carbon content.
