Abstract

Risk investigations could be a way to prevent damages in a reasonable way. Aim for a methodology in countries with a low data base on rockfall events and charted hazard areas must be, to use the available data and resources in the offices in the best way and so timely get a first hazard and risk overview of the rockfall affected roads. The results must show the most risk road sections and help to get a justification and decision assistance for a local and temporal implementation of protective measures. Furthermore the system must offer the possibility to integrate new knowledge or newly constructed protective measures into the system. This lead to an increase in the reliability of the risk assessments, also the assessments could be updated as soon as new data is available. By means of our case study considering federal, state and county roads in the region of Berchtesgaden, we aim to show how structured a methodology for risk analysis could be composed, to reach this goal. The research includes a description of our approach as well as the evaluation of the results which were achieved by considering the current state of data in the area of Berchtesgaden. .
