Abstract

A broadband metasurface antenna based on CMA with quasi-Minkowski fractals structure is proposed. The 2nd-order quasi-Minkowski fractal is used to reduce the antenna size. A slot-coupled feeding structure is employed to maintain the radiation pattern of the metasurface which comprises a 3-2-3 array of hexagon patch cells. The CMA method is used to analyze and guide the minimization of the metasurface cells. The simulated results validate that the proposed antenna covers the working frequency band of 6.68 8.63 GHz (|S11| < -10 dB) with a bandwidth of 25.5%. It has a gain of 6.3 7.2 dBi and can be applied in C-band satellite communication and radar systems.
